Jobs Introduction

You can allocate pre-planned work, or jobs to individual members of your field team. This article describes how.

WorkMobile Jobs provide you with the ability to record jobs and appointments onto the WorkMobile server and then allocate them to your mobile users.

This section covers how you would use this system as a stand-alone system.

However, some users may already have back-office systems in which they book and allocate work. In this instance, WorkMobile can be integrated directly into your back-office using WorkMobile Connect (an API which provides real-time integration into WorkMobile). You should still read this section however as it describes the principles of how jobs are initially set up and configured.

Before you begin

Before you can begin using jobs, you must have at least one WorkMobile form created and published, as well as at least one active mobile user.

Some Background

Imagine that we have a fictitious company that carries out installations, repairs and servicing of central heating systems. Our company uses paper job sheets to record the work carried out.

Each morning, the office manager fills out the customer name, address details and type of work to be carried our and hands these part-filled job cards to the engineer assigned the work.

Engineers come into the office to pick up their cards and then go out and visit each customer. Each time they finish a job, they complete the job card. At the end of the day, they return back to the office and each hand in their completed cards.

So, how would we achieve this using WorkMobile?

The starting point is to create a WorkMobile form which captures all of the above data currently captured on paper. Once you've done this and published the form, you can go on to define a Job Type.
